The UNIS Choreographer’s Ball took place on the 15th of March and definitely drew in a large crowd. The event was a series of dances put together by our dedicated dance students to prove to the heads of the school that UNIS is in fact ready to take part in APAC dance in the next following school year.
The event was hosted by the swag queen Izzy and “my jokes are so lame they’re funny” Michael. The night was filled with brilliant dancing acts from Jamie’s winning “band and snap” move that had everyone up and off their seats to Kamila’s and Ayakas sexy solos. Not to mention, admissions was free as well, bonus!
One act that was particularly stellar was Duy’s and Hung’s dance duet, filled with sharp popping and locking motions that had everyone in awe. Their moves were explosive and definitely at a professional level. The control over their movements, their timing and their synchronization to the music were truly impressive. Someone sign these boys up for “Got to Dance” right now!
Another duet that was particular breathtaking was Phong’s and Ayaka’s. The pair danced to ‘Nice and Slow’ by Usher, choreographed by Unis’s most talented choreographer: Phong Hoa. The two moved so elegantly and every glide and wave was aligned to the music perfectly. It had appeared that the couple was trying to tell a poignant romantic narrative through their smooth and synchronized dance moves. The chemistry that the two shared was practically radiating off the stage. All I can say is we all want to see more of these two together!
Some solo dance acts included Vu’s seducing hip hop choreograph that had all the girls swooning by the end of it and Rosie’s mysterious jabberwocky dance. Her dance was full of energy and intense animation. Her movements were quick and accurate and she was able to move with great ease!
Not only was the night filled with awesome dance acts, there were some singing acts thrown into the mix as well! Chi and Salina were able to grace us with their beautiful voices on stage. Chi was able to show off her wide range and her powerful vibrato while Salina who sang “Girl on Fire” by Nick Minaj was able to showcase her more soft and melodic voice!
With all the amazing acts that took place, the heads of the school has to be sold for sure. APAC dance, here UNIS comes!
