APAC Volleyball Girls and Boys have finished their blazing tournament this weekend at ISB Bangkok. Over the last few days of September, the mighty Phoenix volleyballers attended the International School of Bangkok’s annual Volleyball invitational, competing against 10 other schools from across Asia, successfully concluding their first overseas tournament.
The boys came first in their pool against other strong competitors, paving their way to the final against the host school, ISB. Against the Panthers and waves of yellow, our boys volleyball team maintained their Phoenix spirit, displaying strategic and smart plays, causing lots of trouble for the opposing team. Magnificent rallies created by both communities brought up the intensity and excitement to another level. After a remarkable match, UNIS placed second following an unbelievably close defeat of 15-13. No matter the result, it was a great game!
Simultaneously, the girls participated in the tournament to enhance their team chemistry and apply the skills from practices into real-game situations. They demonstrated the ability to improve even more in future tournaments. According to the players, they “learnt to improve our mentality and not be in our heads during the game. The tournament has given us an immense chance to refine our skills as a team.” In the end, the girls finished the invitational in 7th place.
The ISB Volleyball Invitational definitely presented UNIS with some ups and downs, but it sure was a great opportunity for both our boys and girls to improve, engage, and enjoy themselves. Although the results were not what we had hoped for, the tournament has helped the players to develop their chemistry as an individual and have built a foundation to become a strong team in the future. A big thank you to ISB for hosting an amazing tournament and giving both teams opportunities to seek improvement. Please continue to support our APAC Volleyball teams!
