Khan Academy is an academic environment that has captured the interest of many students. It makes use of a scoring and achievement system to keep students motivated. There are many different aspects to Khan Academy. There are several pages devoted to teach students about computer programming and they provide them a chance to do programming themselves by using a code reading program known as JavaScript. Students may also enhance their math skills through exercises. The site has over 3000 videos about a variety of topics ranging from living organisms to galaxies and even Chemistry! Students may set goals about completing exercises or watching videos. Doing these activities will reward them with “energy points”, a type of currency that lets students be able to unlock “avatars” for their own profile pages. It could also reward students with badges upon reaching specified requirements. Students can add coaches which are often teachers, so they can keep track of student progress. Overall, Khan Academy provides an excellent learning environment and benefits many people, and is recommended for everybody!
