First time in UNIS history: Second theatrical work of the year
For the first time in UNIS history, we are holding two plays in a year. And here’s the second: “The complete work of Shakespeare: Abridge”
Recently, a lot of promotions calling for audition for this play have been posted everywhere around UNIS campus, raising plenty of questions about the mysterious coming up work. The Flame has arranged a meeting with the head coordinator of this event, Ms. Caster, hoping to clarify many questions especially of those who want to join.
Reporter: Good afternoon Ms. Caster, first of all, could you explain briefly what the play is about?
Ms. Caster: It is a parody that makes fun of all Shakespeare’s plays. It’s not serious, it’s a comedy. Even if you don’t know any of the Shakespeare’s play, you will still be able to laugh at the funny things that happen.
Reporter: How did you come up with the idea for another play?
Ms. Caster: I have always thought it is a good idea if you want to build the theater department. A lot of the time a student who auditions for a play may not necessarily auditions for a musical, and the other way around, too. Thus, I think it would be a nice opportunity for students who enjoy acting without singing.
Reporter: Are there any differences between this play and the previous musical?
Ms. Caster: Yes. There won’t be a big set as the musical had. The cast won’t be as big either. We’ll rely more on costumes and actors playing multiple roles. Yet, they won’t just play one role. Therefore, the expectation for cast will also be higher.
Reporter: How do the students who want to participate in the play prepare for the audition?
Ms. Caster: All they have to do is if they want to be on stage then they come to the audition on March 3rd. It’s open for everyone from grade 9 -12. If they would like to work on the play but not on stage then just come to the first meeting on Thursday, march 7rd. The play is open to everyone who wants to involve.
Reporter: So they don’t have to prepare anything?
Ms. Caster: No.
Reporter: How many people will be chosen for the play?
Ms. Caster: 10. The number for the backstage depends on how many people want to be involved. We’ll try to find jobs for all of them.
Reporter: Thank you so much.
Final note: the audition for the play is on March, 3rd.
